The Making Of

Before there's a giant sculpture on the playa, there's an idea, some sketches, a handful of materials, and a lot of figuring things out. I'm documenting that process here as it takes shape.

Working it out by hand

I've started sculpting a vulture in clay and building a small-scale version of the fallen Man with wooden sticks. These early models help me work through the proportions and what can actually be built at full scale.

The scene comes together

This artist-directed concept rendering shows the intended direction for the full installation. It's a visualization, not a photograph of a finished sculpture.

What's next

More sketches, refined maquettes, structural planning, fabrication tests, and eventually the full-scale build. I'll add photographs as the project develops.
